If you registered your LPA before January 1, 2016, it may not have a 12-digit LPA number and cannot be added to the online service, according to GOV.UK. 

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  1. 1. Locate the Activation Key:The activation key is a 13-letter code, starting with “C”, that you’ll find on the letter confirming your LPA registration. 
  2. Set up a Use an LPA account:You’ll need a GOV.UK One Login to create an account. If you don’t have one, you can create one on the GOV.UK One Login page. 
  3. Add the LPA to your account:Enter the activation key and the LPA’s reference number (which is also on the registration letter) when prompted to add the LPA to your online account. 
  4. Generate Access Codes:Once the LPA is added, you can generate unique access codes for specific organizations, allowing them to view a summary of the LPA online. 
  5. Use the Access Codes:Provide the access code to the organization, along with the donor’s name, and they can then view the LPA summary. 
  6.  Validity of Access Codes:Access codes are valid for 30 days from the date they are generated. 
  7. If your LPA was registered more than 12 months ago or you cannot find the letter, you can request a new activation key through your online account.
