How Much Should I Pay for LPAs in East Sussex??

How Much Does a Lasting Power of Attorney Cost?

At The Professional Will Writer, our fixed fee* is:

  • £547 for all four LPAs for a couple (both Property & Financial and Health & Welfare)
  • £299 for a pair of Lasting Powers of Attorney – can be one of each or two of the same type for a couple.
  • This includes advice, preparation, and full support through to registration
  • * The fixed fee does not necessarily cover business LPAs or unusually complex ones – but I have yet to find anyone who wants an overly complex one!

In comparison, most solicitors fees for LPAs in East Sussex and across the UK typically charge:

  • Around £300–£600 (plus VAT) for a single LPA. Or more.
  • Around £600–£1,200 (plus VAT) if you want both types for one person. Or more.
  • More if your affairs are complex or if home visits are required

On top of this, you still pay the government registration fee of £82 per LPA (rising to £92 in November 2025). Chances are you may not even see a solicitor; it will be delegated to an assistant who may be more expert. With us, the discussions are not necessarily over on day one – we often give people food for further thought.

How can we charge such modest fees for LPAs?

Simple – we only write Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, and have no expensive overheads, just a nice quiet home office with easy parking (apart from during the School rush!)

Our Guarantee

If we miss an error that we should have spotted, and registration fails, we will pay the resubmission fee as long as the revised forms are signed and returned within 3 months. We do check LPAs four times before sending them off, but you do need to give us the correct names and addresses etc!

LPA fees

This document compares solicitor and non-solicitor firms providing Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) services in East Sussex. It includes VAT-inclusive pricing, certificate provider details, and average Google-based review ratings where available. Data was collected on 7th August 2025 – let us know if anything needs updating.

I thought it would be an easy job with the Regulator urging clear pricing for all to see, so I would be grateful if anyone checks out any of the ones I couldn’t find prices on and lets me know! It is still very much a work in progress.

You might want to steer clear of anyone who says they can do the job in 15 minutes! If your brain is not worked hard, the LPAs may miss vital clues as to how to make them better.

Business Lasting Powers of Attorney may involve additional work.

With us, you deal personally with someone who ONLY advises on Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney on a full-time basis, and has done so for 25 years. The advice is personal and often thought-provoking to ensure you get a fully effective pair of Lasting Powers of Attorney. But we have plenty of competition….. (bear in mind the Court fee for registering an LPA is £82 – £92 11/25 -unless you are on certain benefits or can PROVE a total income of less than £12,000 – which is harder than it sounds.)

Footnotes

  1. Emin Read – Pricing includes Certificate Provider; optional OPG registration £270.
  2. Dawson Hart – £792 includes registration and Certificate Provider.
  3. McCarthy Webb – No details on Certificate Provider; pricing includes VAT.
  4. GoodLaw Solicitors – No Certificate Provider info; pricing confirmed online.
  5. ACT Legal – Offers standalone Certificate Provider service; no pricing given.
  6. Burtons Solicitors – Estimated from online guidance; Certificate Provider unclear.
  7. Brighton Wills – Non-solicitor will writer; likely includes Certificate Provider.
  8. Wills 4 Less – No prices or details found online.
  9. Fitzhugh Gates – Pricing includes Certificate Provider and OPG registration.
  10. Power of Attorney Online – Fully digital service with Certificate Provider included.
  11. Coop Legal Services have a team of Will Writers nationally and also offer a partly telephone based service which is cheaper, but seems to give you the advice after you have done the work rather than more usefully, before. I am not sure what their star rating is based on, as they do lots of things.
  12. Whilst our Certificate Provider service is included in basic prices, it is based on signing in our Polegate office (which could save you £hundreds) but we can help arrange free provision elsewhere in many cases. Like most, the Registration Fees are third-party costs and not included in our fees. However, there is no extra cost for us to handle the registration if it is done as soon as the documents are signed – obviously the Court fee of £82 per LPA still applies. Half of our fee is payable when you instruct us, the balance when we have prepared the documents (which doesn’t take long if you are decisive – and they are big decisions so we understand if you are not!)
